Streaming is the process of playing a file while it is still downloading.
Streaming technology, also known as streaming media, lets a user view and hear content
(video, sound and animation ) as it is being downloaded so you won't have to wait for the entire file to download.
What file types are supported in ePortfolio streaming?
.mov, .mp4, .m4v files made with QuickTime
Note: These files must include a hinting track (Read more about adding a hint track to a QuickTime movie)
Your file will begin playing sooner - you will not have to wait for the entire file to download
Why you may not want to stream your multimedia file...
Unhinted .mov/.mp4/.m4v files: if you have a QuickTime movie that has not been hinted, you should
disable streaming above. Read more about adding
a hint track to a QuickTime movie. If you try to watch a streamed unhinted movie, QuickTime will fail with the message of Unsupported Media Type.
Streaming doesn't work: if you have tried to play your file with streaming enabled and have been
unsuccessful, then you should disable streaming above (and try to play it again).
