And the learning continues...

Thursday, November 16, 2006, we held two training sessions for the campus contacts group with Zemina Hasham, the Senior Director, Client Services for Elluminate, Inc.

The agenda for the two hour sessions consisted of topics that we had brainstormed during an earlier session that we wanted more information on.  We settled upon the following:

Overview of Elluminate Features

Technology

§         Mac suggestions

§         Microphone issues

§         What should we be using?

§         Capturing audio in a room

§         Voice bandwidth issues

§         Video capture

§         Changing between applications

Best Practices

§         What are other institutions doing?

§         Resources/training available

§         Student engagement with audio

§         Best uses of audio and chat

§         Facilitation guidelines

§         Case studies

§         Tutoring

Training

§         Recommendations (essential prep for faculty)

§         Computer testing program/checklist

§         Troubleshooting guidelines

The result was many of us having our jaw wide open as we learned about the capabilities of Elluminate Live! and the many ways that we can use it at Maricopa.

And we're off....

And we're off...

The project is officially off and running.  To date, we have:

  • Received access to the Elluminate software
  • Established a group of people at the colleges and district office who are willing to support the project.  This group has been titled the "Campus Contacts"
  • Established a timeline for the study
  • Sent out a call for participants to the campuses to get faculty involved in the study
  • Scheduled orientation sessions for faculty participating in the study
  • Scheduled a training session for campus contacts for 11/16/2006

The campus contact group met last week to brainstorm study objectives and outcomes.  A formal list of the objectives and outcomes will be posted soon.
