I have several issues in this area. 1) Students who write a paper in English, then have it translated into Spanish on the web, 2) students who copy from another source in English and have it translated, and 3) some mixture of the above I don't have the ...

I, too agree that the solution for plagiarism is in the assignment. One of my pet peeves is the teacher that assigns the same thing year after year and then requests subscriptions to "copy testing" software.

Its interesting that educators find it difficult to change the way they teach. Yet, outside the classroom there is no one size checking accounts, cars, washers, houses, etc. So, Why do many think teaching should be any different?
