Its interesting that educators find it difficult to change the way they teach. Yet, outside the classroom there is no one size checking accounts, cars, washers, houses, etc. So, Why do many think teaching should be any different?

Well teachers have to teach to the test and that's the same for everyone. And the way we were taught was pretty much the same for everyone. So there's this mind-set to continue doing things the same way. And teachers have so many students to deal with ...
